China

PARENT REQUIREMENTS
Age of Parents:
30-49 years old for healthy infant; may be older if considering an older or special needs child
.

Other Children:
May have other children in family. 

U.S. Citizenship:
One parent must be a U.S. citizen.

Marriage:
Married couples only.

Travel:
One parent is required to travel.
One trip: approximately 10-15 days in China. Families are escorted throughout the process. Travel is by group only, usually in groups of 3-8 families.
CHILDREN
Gender:
Both, although primarily female.

Age:
Infants are usually 6-12 months of age.  Toddlers, older children, and special needs children are also available.

PRIMARY COSTS TO CONSIDER TIMING

Home study fee (including training) and documents; assistance/coordination of dossier; translations; program consultation; telephone, fax, mailing fees and International relief/program development)

China Foreign Fee. (Fees to orphanage and local government administration.)

Referral:
Referral 18 months after dossier is logged in to CCAA.

Travel:
Travel occurs 6-8 weeks following acceptance of referral.


Mongolia

PARENT REQUIREMENTS

Age of Parents:
Married applicants between ages 35-49 years and single women ages 35-45 years are eligible. Married applicants over 45 years old, please contact us.

Other Children:
Families with more than 2 children should consult Program Coordinator; specific restrictions apply.

U.S. Citizenship:
One parent must be a U.S. citizen.

Marriage:
Single women and married couples are accepted. Length of marriage must be at least 5 years.

Travel:
Travel by both parents is required to receive placement of child. This two week trip is completely guided and supervised by LAN staff. Plan on spending approximately 1 week in Ulaan Baatar and then completing the adoption process in Seoul, South Korea where the visa is issued. Travel is in groups of 2 families.


CHILDREN TIMING

Gender: 
Both boys and girls; no gender requests allowed in this program.

Age:
Infants, toddlers and older children are available for adoption. Special needs children are also available.

Health:
Most children have been abandoned due to poverty and frequently show developmental delays. There is minimal medical/genetic or social history information, if available, on birth parents. Referral information about the child includes a brief social history, medical reports of varying reliability, and photographs.

Referral: 
10-12 months following completion of dossier. 





Travel:
Travel occurs 1-3 months following acceptance of referral.

PRIMARY COSTS TO CONSIDER OTHER FEATURES

International Program Administration Fee, which includes:Review of home study and documents; assistance/coordination of dossier; translations; program consultation; telephone; fax; mailing fees and International relief/program development.

Mongolian Foreign Fee. (Fees to orphanage and local government administration.)

The Mongolian program has placed 34 children since 2002.  There is a large humanitarian aid/sponsorship project, Family Preservation, available to support families living in Mongolia.

 


Philippines

PARENT REQUIREMENTS

Parents must be at least 27 years old at the time of application (preference is given to families who are no more than 45 years older than the child to be adopted.) Adopting parents must be married at least 3 years. Preference is given to Christian families. No Singles.

CHILDREN AVAILABLE

Age:
Children from ages 12 months to 14 years are available for adoption. Sibling groups and older children are available.

Health:
Some family history is available at the time the child is referred.


TIMING PRIMARY COSTS TO CONSIDER

Referral:
The adoption process takes 18 to 24 months from the time of acceptance by the Philippine government to the time of referral.

Families receive placement of their child upon arrival in the Philippines.

While no legal process is required in the Philippines, the time there is an opportunity to experience the child's birth culture. Finalization of the adoption occurs in the family's home state after retuning home with the child.

Philippine Adoption fees cover:

  • Program Application
  • Philippine Government Fees
  • Program Fee
  • Post-placement

A portion of the Philippines Program Fee is donated to the support of child welfare programs in that country. (Our partner agency is Concordia Children's Services.)

TRAVEL
Travel by at least one parent to the Philippines to receive the child is required. The trip is well-organized and well-guided by agency representatives. English is spoken in the Philippines. Travel is typically 5-7 days.


Hong Kong

PARENT REQUIREMENTS

Age of Parents:
25 yrs. minimum; upper age is flexible.

Marriage: 
Married couples (at least 3 years) and single women are welcome.

Education:
Minimum High School diploma or equivalency.

Travel:
One trip to Hong Kong lasting 3-5 days.
Children may occasionally be escorted if the family has extenuating circumstances preventing travel.


CHILDREN TIMING

Gender:
Both, however more boys than girls are in need of placement.

Age:
1 year to 16 years; most children are of preschool age.

Other:
Some degree of special needs will be present in all children and sibling groups. Families receive very detailed medical, developmental, and social summaries.

Referral will occur about 3 months after dossier and program application are submitted.
Travel occurs about 9 months after acceptance of referral.

Vietnam

PARENT REQUIREMENTS

Single women and couples married at least 1 year are eligible. Parents should be 25-50 years old for infants; adoptive parents over 50 are considered on a case by case basis.

Families with 5 or more children at home are accepted on a limited basis.

CHILDREN

Boys and girls, ages 4 months and up, are in need of families. Most children referred will be under 1 year of age.


TIMING PRIMARY COSTS TO CONSIDER

Dossier submission to referral time is roughly 3-6 months; travel occurs about 1-3 months after acceptance of referral.

Primary Costs:

  • Application fee;
  • International Program Fee;
  • Country Fee (includes humanitarian aid contributions.)

    Additional Costs:

  • Homestudy, document preparation;
  • USCIS, passports, visas;
  • Food, lodging, airfare and in-country travel;
  • TRAVEL

    One trip of about 3 weeks to Vietnam is required of both parents.
