PARENT REQUIREMENTS
Parents should be no more than 40 years older than the adoptive child.

Other Children:
May have other children in family.

U.S. Citizenship:
One parent must be a U.S. Citizen.

Marriage:
Married couples accepted. Previous divorce is acceptable.

Travel:
Both parents must initially travel to Poland to bond with the child and attend court proceedings. This trip lasts between 2 and 3 weeks.

Then, both parents may stay in Poland for the duration of the adoption process, which is roughly 3 weeks long.  

Or, one parent may return to the US while the other parent remains in Poland for the duration of the adoption process.

Or, both parents may return to the U.S. and the child is returned to the orphanage, and then one or both parents return to Poland to finalize the process, which takes about 1 week.


CHILDREN COSTS TO CONSIDER

Gender:
Both boys and girls are available.

Age:
Children are usually 12 months or older. Toddlers and older children are also available.

Health:
The children live in orphanages and may have developmental delays. Health is generally good. Medical information and photos are generally available.

Other:
Children with special needs are available. Sometimes siblings are available.




International Program Administration Fee. (review of home study, assistance/ coordination in assembling of documents, program consultation, telephone, fax, program development)

Poland Foreign Fee. (Poland representative and translation, Poland Attorney)

TIMING TRAVEL

Application:
Families can begin the application process once a home study is completed.

Referral:
Average time from application to referral is 2 to 9 months.

Once a referral is accepted, departure may vary due to court schedules in Poland.  This process usually takes place within 3 to 10 weeks.


Russia

PARENT REQUIREMENTS
Age of Parents:
May vary based on region, but 25-50 years old is the general range.

Other Children:
May have other children in family.

U.S. Citizenship:
One parent must be a U.S. citizen.

Marriage:
Single women and married couples are accepted.

Income:
Requirements vary by region.


CHILDREN COSTS TO CONSIDER

Gender:
Gender requests are not accepted.

Age:
Infants, toddlers and older children are available. Infants are typically 9-18 months at the time of referral. Sibling groups are also available.

Health:
The children live in orphanages and are most often developmentally delayed. There is usually medical information available, as well as a social history on the birth parents. Referral information about the child includes any social history available and medical reports of varying reliability.

Ethnicity
Children come from a variety of ethnic backgrounds, usually Caucasian and mixed Eurasian, based on the region.

Russia Foreign Fee, (payable in installments.) 

Fees to orphanage and local government administration.

TIMING
 

Referral:
Approximately 2-10 months following submission of dossier to referral of child.

Travel:
First trip is 4-8 weeks after referral acceptance; trip lasts 5-7 days.

Second trip is 4-8 weeks after the first, lasting 6-12 days (depending on region.)
