Fair Housing Training
You may be aware of the fact that housing discrimination exists. However, did you know that housing discrimination is still quite common and in some areas the problem appears to be on the rise?
U.S. Law prohibits landlords, realtors, and mortgage companies from discriminating based on any of the following:
• race
• religion
• national origin
• gender
• disability
• having children
We want to make sure that you, your clients and/or your staff know their housing rights!
The Adult Education program at LCFS, in collaboration with the Fair Housing Council of Suburban Philadelphia, is working to promote greater understanding of housing discrimination law in Southeast Pennsylvania. We can provide a free, one-hour training session for staff at your agency, so your team can be informed when communicating with clients about their housing needs. Furthermore, we can provide free trainings that range from 1 hour to 2.5 hours in community ESL, GED, and ABE classes at your locations. LCFS trainings teach participants to recognize housing discrimination. It improves their knowledge about free legal help in cases where their legal rights are being violated.
In addition, our training can be designed to briefly discuss any of the following:
• Finding housing
• Reading and understanding a lease
• Legal rights of people being evicted
