Trips to Ohio for Rebuilding after Flooding
This summer floods hit Ohio very hard. There are still 800 homes that are on file to be repaired or rebuilt. Volunteers are mucking out, cleaning, and removing debris, particularly for those unable to do it for themselves. We are very proud that two teams from our area are headed out to assist our neighbors in Ohio.

Gulf Coast Volunteer Opportunities
Katrina survivors continue to struggle with not only physical recovery but also spiritual and emotional recovery. Volunteers give them hope. Camp Victor, a camp housing volunteers who are building and repairing homes in
Mississippi, has openings for volunteers during the month of May. Southeast Pennsylvania work teams continue to travel to the Gulf Coast, but none are scheduled for May. Let's change that! Please consider spending a week
in MS in May, or any time of the year. For travel information contact Linda Frey 610-847-5775, 610-657-4730, or lwfrey@epix.net.

SEPA GULF COAST TEAMS BUILD A HOUSE IN Pascagoula, MS
Two and a half years after Hurricane Katrina, Miss Ruby still lives in a FEMA trailer on her property. Water destroyed Miss Ruby’s house along with her son’s house next door. January 7, 2008 the Mission Team from Advent Lutheran Church, Harleysville, along with ten members of a Moravian volunteer work team, began construction of Miss Ruby’s future home. The team members placed beams, did the rough flooring and framed out the front exterior wall. The house had to be elevated so the building materials were lifted eight feet to the first floor.
SEPA Synod work teams housed at Camp Victor, Ocean Springs, Mississippi have been given the opportunity to construct Miss Ruby’s house. Unfortunately construction came to a halt the following two weeks. Approved funding for building materials was not yet available. January 28th Mennonite volunteers began putting up rafters for the roof.
Volunteer work teams staying at Camp Victor should mention Miss Ruby’s house. The construction office manager will tell the team leader the stage of construction and skills required. It is also helpful, but not necessary, to bring Lowes gift cards for the team to use for purchasing building supplies.
